In residence at The Centre for Drawing March 2016
In Rachel Goodyear’s largely drawing based practice unusual and psychotic scenarios that fluctuate between the real and the imagined are captured in her intricate graphic works. These works are infused by a watchful gaze that penetrates both human and animal behaviour. Goodyear explores how a drawing can occupy space through fragmentation and playing between two, three and four dimensions.
Goodyear has shown her work widely including at the Curitiba Biennale in Brazil in 2013, ICA London, Tate Liverpool; solo presentations include exhibitions at Yorkshire Sculpture Park and The Drawing Centre New York. Her work currently features in Tale Tales at The Freud Museum London, and Portraits at the Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester. Goodyear’s work is included in many national and international collections including the V&A and the Olbricht Collection Essen.
