Michael Pavelka

Michael Palvelka is a theatre designer and founder of member of the Propeller Theatre company. His productions have been in theatres around the world. He has made designs for plays by Brecht and Shakespeare, numerous West End productions, and has worked with many remarkable figures in the industry including Lindsey Anderson, Neil Bartlett, Kenneth Branagh, Liam Steel and the physical theatre company Stan Wont Dance. He has won numerous awards for his work including The Stage TMA Best Set Design awards 2009, for his design of Merchant of Venice, Best Musical UK Theatre Award 2012 for The Go Between.

Micheal Palvelka lead the first Undergraduate and then Post Graduate Theatre Design course at Wimbledon, as well as leading the cross disciplinary MA Drawing, 2011-13. He was a Reader in Theatre Design/Scenography at UAL and in 2015 published ‘So you Want to be a Theatre Designer?’.  He is currently leading the Rutgers’ Theatre Design Program at Shakespeare’s Globe, London.
